My Spitfire spent most of the winter un-run, going for perhaps 2 months at
one point without the "fire" part of its namesake. The battery is one of
those Duralast batteries from AutoZone, maybe two years old. You may
chastise me because I didn't disconnect it or remove it from the car. Two
weeks ago I put my trickle-charger on it but after a few days it would still
barely crank the engine. So I jump-started it from the Caravan, and lo! the
car ran fine and after a while was able to re-start itself.
So yesterday I tried to start it again and the battery was so dead it would
not even light the ignition or low oil pressure warning lights. It was dead
as the proverbial doornail.
So the question for you battery experts is: Can this battery be saved, or
does that behavior represent fatal internal shorting or something?
