Hey List,

Bought a 1979 spitfire just recently, took a few days to get it "home".
Washed off the body as it was white from the NY roadsalt, and proceeded to
check out my new spit. Marvelling over the superb condition of the body &
Frame, I opened the trunk to rummage through all the "spares" that came
with the car. I removed the seats from the dirty interior and proceeded
to vaccum the carpet and crevices, again marvelling at the nearly pristine
floorpans.

By then it was getting dark, so I made it a day and went to sleep.

Next day I got up and prepared to start cleaning up the spitfire again.
Opening the side catches, I grabbed one of the wheelwells and started
opening the bonnet on its pivoting hinges. With a faint screech, it came
to a halt at its maximum height, lightly resting on its stay rod. I peeked
under the hood and an expression of horror crossed my face - just what the
heck was that? It looked British, yet IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS ON LIFE
SUPPORT!! So many tubes and hoses! It was like a lone ship in a sea of
serpents! So this is what a Californian spit looks like?!?? How am I
supposed to find my way through this labyrinth o' hell? My first reflex
was to run for the engine hoist and yank that sucka, but it was
"preoccupied". Disgusted, I shut the bonnet and ran for the T.V., promptly
shifting channels 'till I hit Robotwars. My mind quickly drifted from the
repugnant sights of past, as it enveloped itself in robot carnage. I vowed
never to let that happen to a motor of mine. I would pull the plug before
letting it slowly and painfuly die, its lifeblood sucked away by the
parisitic devices that had attached themselves in droves.
