Bill :

I have seen what happens to a stock sidescreen car in just a moderate
accident.  IMO Seat belts are only helpful before the accident at helping
you to retain control of the car.  After that, they are just one more thing
that the rescue workers will have to cut to get you out of the ball of
twisted metal...

As one example, the body becoming separated from the frame is a very real
possibility if you're rear ended by something like an SUV.  The TRs frame
will slide right under his bumper and the whole car body shoved forward on
the frame.  Tying a seat belt to the frame means your body is one of the
things trying to move the frame ...

Randall,here you underestimate the strenght of a TR3. Two years ago
a clubmember had a head on collision with a Range Rover. The 
TR3 was wrecked but both occupents survived and the body did not 
move an inch on the frame. The windscreen stanchions are the 
problem area, with seatbelts they would have walked from the car 
without problem.
