Hi Justin
Every Triumph Herald owner (and all the derivatives of the chassis) and TR
owner should have the regulation grease gun filled with gear oil for doing
the trunnions. You are also correct in that there is something wrong with
this method, that is that the oil filled grease gun never has any oil left
in it when you go back to it at the next service interval! There is however
a solution to this, the gun is hung up by the rod not by sticking the handle
over the rafter in the raised area of the corrugated roofing, and a
container placed so as to catch the much slower leak of oil.

Graham.

| There was a thread about oiling the front trunions with gear oil instead
| of grease.
(I know one could just load a grease
| gun with the oil, but something just seemed wrong about it. Like using
| a pliers instead of the correct sized wrench on a nut. : )
