I haven't done it (yet), but I understand that it is not
impossible to go to a fire extinguisher shop, purchase
a used halon extinguisher, and then get it recharged, for
cheaper than most outlet will charge for new (if they will
sell them at all).

But I have Purple K extinguishers in my cars.
