For what it may be worth I have been slowly collecting the pieces I need to
do what you are wanting to do Dave.

I bought a PTR1810-1-10 on eBay for significantly less than $96. It was
listed as a Land Rover part.

While it is of no immediate help when I get a chance to cobble together some
sort of test bed I will try to determine what sort of signal it puts out and
post it here.

show piece gauge?  Anyway, the question is, does anybody know what signal

output by the Smiths electric sender? Perhaps my existing unit is
compatible
or could be adjusted with a voltage divider or whatnot.
