Big Red went on it's first run today. ...I just can't state how rewarding
it
was to finally throttle up that 6 cyl after working all these cold days.

WHOA! .....details .... 3.27 diff with D type O/D.
not as much accel as I thought might be there. But the highway cruising...
mind boggling!

OK.... 980 speedo so it matches the 3.27 speedo
But I have an O/D tranny. So I guess I should have
a 3.89 diff with the 1152 speedo...
I have a 1152 in the Spitfire! maybe I'll swap speedos
around .

If it's actually accurate (the speedo)..... my 7 mile trail run
which included 3 miles between exits on the beltway
was a bit scary! I was only taching out at 3krpm
at 75-80mph WITHOUT O/D ENGAGED!
It dropped to 2-2.2krpm with O/D.

Anyway.... I'm one happy camper. NOT nearly as noisy
or buzzy as expected. Goes to show that asphalt/plastic
panel sound deadening stuff works! (I had it on the roof
doors inside fenders firewall/floorboards etc and added
fiberglass insulation to the inside of the trans tunnel cover.)
Trunk insulated too!

Engine is smooth as silk...or am I use to the Spit 4 cyl?
man it turns over and starts easily! Damn...it'll idle at 400
without dieing! Needs choke to start and catch....but
with in a minute I can push it all the way in without
having it falter at idle.

Ooohh...... tomorrow is going to be fun! Maybe I'll get up
the courage to 'stomp' around a bit.

:-) :^) :^D
