cracks of this nature are not unusual. the 1600 fords that we work on tend
to crack between the water passages in the center of the head. we have had
very good luck cold fixing them with steel stitching pins (not the tapered
ones), and I would recommend this above welding, welding a cast iron head
even by someone who is very good boogers it up almost beyond belief
