>Anyone know how these rivets are used to attach the door checkstrap
retainer? They don't have the typical rivet shank on them that pulls
into the gun and then snaps off - instead, they have a hollow sleeve
where you would think the shank would go. Any help is appreciated!

Jeff, these rivets are more traditional than the new-fangled "Pop Rivets
(R)" that are commonplce today. These require a tool (a pointed center
punch may work well enough) to flair out the hollow section to retain it in
place. You will need to hold a hammer against the head with one hand,
take your punch in another hand and with another hammer in your third hand
strike the punch to flair it out.

Simple. Makes one wonder why we all converted to pop rivets.

Good luck

Dave
