What year is the car/truck? With AC or without? Electronic control or
manual?

AC cars usually use a vacuum operated heater hose valve. With vacuum at the
hose, water will be shut off. Is the air coming out the defroster vents? If
so you probably lost vacuum to the dash controls, the default is heat and
defrost.

With no AC ( or some cars with dealer/aftermarket AC) the hot cold dash
lever moves a cable that moves a door in the heater box. If the cable becomes
jammed, falls off or something like a pen falls into the defroster vents, hot
air
will flow.

With any car without AC it is worth adding a heater water shut off valve.
Not having the heater core hot under the dash is like adding AC.
