That way will work, and is somewhat simpler than how I wired mine.

I was concerned that my original solenoid was getting 'tired' and didn't want
the current for the new starter motor running through it, so I wired the main
cable to be hot all the time (by moving it to the other solenoid stud) and ran a
new wire from the old solenoid output to the new solenoid input.
