Hi Jerry and 4A/5/250/Sixers:

The problem started 25 years ago when my Dad "harvested" a convertible
top frame from a donor car. He promptly welded the 4As header rail to
that convertible top frame, yet I now notice that that frame top has
side rails, where as the original convertible top frame clearly does
not have these side rails.

I have one frame like this one with the 4A header piece and clamps
welded onto it:

I have another frame like this one with the hinges and header removed:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=7966845054&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Does it matter which frame set up I use? Are they interchangeable?
Is one superior? etc?

Thanks to the group's collective know-how and help!

Sincerely,

Ted

I believe one of the most noticeable differences would be the front clamping
mechanism. The 4A is a hinged clamp that pushes upward while the TR6 is a
lever style that is rotated more like the current style soft top frames use.
I would guess the rest of the top mechanism is the same.

 Listerati :

Is the TR4A soft top frame the same as the TR6 ? If not, is there an easy way
to tell the difference ?

Please "reply all", as this is Ted's question and he's not on the list.
