John, from what I've heard, advertising on the VTR web site is a great 
first option. As a service to the Triumph enthusiast community, the 
classifieds are free even for non-members! You can also list it in your 
local club newsletters. Additionally, you can advertise it on this list; 
this is where I found my first TR4 five years ago.

eBay might be a good fit, since roughly half of eBay's members are 
wealthy Nigerians, and they all love classic cars. But none of May's 
completed TR3 auctions met reserve. Of three active auctions when I 
searched this morning, only one has met reserve. But maybe you'll be the 
next one. ;)

As for values, I think you're stuck doing the research on comparables. 
Search for online ads and auctions, check car magazine value guides, and 
consider value guides like Kelly. If you put together a web page with 
photos of your car and a description, then post it to this list, you'll 
probably get more responses about the right price for you car -- because 
we all like to see other people's cars. Best luck.
