filling is draining me

Try an 8 Point 7/16 socket (Sears, McMaster-Carr, Snap-On, etc).  This 
tool should properly grip the square head of the several drain/fill 
plugs on your TR6 - if the plug is not too rounded.

I'm off to Branson, MO for the Triumph Register of America meeting in a 
few hours in my TR4.
