My plugs are 7/16" across the flats ... a 1/2" drive isn't going to fit for
beans.


Have you tried it?  It has a number of years ago but I did it.  I don't 
remember how loosey-goosey it was but I do remember that I couldn't get it with 
a 
hand wrench but I did with this.
