The best stuff I've found are tablets ( 5 to a pack ) made by Bars Leaks, 
these are also sold in GM parts departments under the AC Delco name.  The stuff 
is fine enough not to clog heater cores but good enough to plug leaks.

Do not use the old style bars leaks thick sealer mixed with Gerbil food, this 
seems to clog everything.

Best part about the tablets is that they are stealth when mixed in the 
coolant, I don't like coolant that looks like mud.
