Just a side comment, the fuel gauge is the only small gauge on a TR3/A that
needs a ground.  And the factory grounded it to the tie point on the back of
the instrument panel (which has to be grounded for the panel lights to
work).

The speedo and tach need grounds, but only for illumination and the high
beam indicator.

For the TR4, none of the small gauges require grounds.
