consider replacing the distributor just to eliminate all that weights and 
vacuum stuff.  i nice electronic distributor :)  you'll install it and 
forget it the rest of your life.  other things... get the factory fiberboard 
all around the radiator to keep the air from blowing past the radiator 
(escaping).  test the radiator cap or splurge big time and buy a nice $7 
radiator cap.  drain some of the fluid from the radiator so you can see the 
rows down the cap opening.  fire it up to operating temp and watch the water 
squirting out of the rows of the radiator.  if the fluid is hitting the 
opposite wall the water pump is strong.  if it's not that strong, i'd 
consider the water pump weak and replace it.  sears sells a nice infrared 
temp gauge for like $20.  i like mine!  point it at the input of the 
radiator, then at the output of the radiator.  you should see a nice temp 
drop, else the radiator is not cooling.  finally you can buy one of those 
aftermarket water temp gauges for $15 and use it temporary or even install 
it permanently with a t under the hood.  nice to verify what it is exactly.
