How does the toe-in look?  If you have way too much toe-in then you will hit 
the steering stops on each front wheel early.  For a rough setting I usually 
center the steering wheel and then sight down the edge of the front tire and 
adjust until I can barely see the rear.  If I don't see the tire I have too 
much 
and adjust out.  If I have a good view of the rear tire tread I have too much 
toe-out and adjust in.  This gets me close enough to get me to an alignment 
shop.

Also check the steering stops of the trunions.  They are adjustable, too.
