Many thanks to Fred, Alex amd Gerald,
You all got me to thinking and looking further in the front of the engine.
I loosened the belt and checked the pulley. It was fine. Something caught
my eye on the bottom of the generator pulley. After a closer look I found
the belt was totally separated from the outer skin in one place. After
struggling to get the belt off one of the pulleys, I found the belt had
broken in three places and there were two large 3"+ chunks of big thick belt
free to slap around. The outer layer looked perfect, but the whole back
side had separated. I'm sure this is where my noise is coming from. The
generator has no wobble, but there is some lateral movement. I'll get it
checked tomorrow, but I think it will be fine.
You guys are great!
Pete
