One solution is to buy a "polarity converter" that lets you run a negative
ground radio in a positive ground car (without having to isolate the
grounds). JCW used to sell them.
Basically, it's an isolated DC-DC converter, with 12v input and 12v output.
Since the output is isolated from the input (and the body of the converter),
you can connect the output negative to the car/radio chassis, and use the
output positive to power the radio.
