Go with the braided lines, you won't regret it. After watching the rubber l=
ines balloon during a bleeding session a few months back its only braid cove=
red from here on out. Consider it cheap insurance.=20

I had to change all the hoses - they all leaked after I switched to DOT5. I'=

Randall,
Interesting. I have been running DOT3 in my TR4A since I got the car
drivable (about 2 years now) and only used DOT3 because there was a big
sticker on the side of the master cylinder telling me "USE ONLY DOT 3 BRAKE
FLUID OR WARRENTY IS VOID". I was wondering how big a PIA it would be to
flush out the DOT3 fluid and replace it with DOT5. I have read many posts on=

this list where people have used DOT 5 with no issues so I am considering
changing over as I should probably replace the current fluid after 2 years
anyway.

Another contested question. My experience is as Paul said, just "bleeding
through" will not remove all of the old brake fluid from the system.
However, I saw no ill effects from the small pockets of old fluid left over.=

The DOT 5 will not mix with the old fluid, and is slightly less dense, so
you get little pockets of fluid in corners that don't get used (like the
base of the rear slave cylinders). The DOT 5 also surrounds it, so it can't=

promote corrosion (and I assume not absorb water or salt).

Main disadvantage seems to be that the remaining DOT 3/4 will suck all the
purple dye out of the DOT 5.
