I believe he was talking about the regulator that provides 10V to the
fuel gauge and the temperature gauge.  It's on all the newer cars; I
don't know about TR3 though.  Looking at
http://www.advanceautowire.com/tr24a.pdf , it appears that regulator
came in with the TR4.
