That would make sense. Also read that the TR6 Motor is a much better fit in the 
engine bay.  Of course, not planning to get into a re-power situation but a 
nice little 289 would be an interesting option. .

I understand that a fair number of Stags ended up with small block Ford engines 
and gearboxes.
