I'm one of the guys running those round stones masquerading as tires.
My tire guy at Roger Kraus Racing says, "There's one good thing about
these Dunlops: they can't GET any harder." ;=( They added about 7-10
seconds to my lap times at Sears Point. They do last. You have to get
tired of looking at them and throw them away in disgust to get new
tires.

Only in certain classes. The pre-war cars are mostly allowed whatever
fits, as they have such unusual sizes (19"). The later classes (Trans-Am
cars?) are allowed to run the Goodyear Blue Streaks, which are period
correct for them. The 1970-1983 historic F1 cars do run on slicks (Steve
Earle runs a car in that group). The other classes that cover the 50s
and early 60s are on the Dunlops.
