My solution seems to be to get more and more self sufficient as time goes 
by.  I now do almost all of my engine work, body work, welding, fitting, 
turning, milling, paint, etc - and looking to learn how to do head work 
next!  I still go out for frame repairs, engine block work, and so on - the 
machines to do that stuff tend to cost a bomb!
