When the Cobra Daytona coupes first took to the track, the drivers got
SO hot that Shelby sent a guy out to the pits with some tin snips to
cut holes in the roofs. I'm sure all the current owners are pissing
and moaning about the "midnight engineering" that had to be set right.
;=) C'mon, Malcolm. I know you and Diane have a whale of a time in
that car. Quit yer bitchin'.
It is true that if you buy a car that has seen track time recently,
and you've seen it place well in other hands, then the only piece
that needs re-engineering is the loose nut behind the wheel. In
many cases, race cars sit around between buyers, as mine did. There
were some pretty dodgy things on my car that simply had to go. Wing
nuts holding the nose on? Drywall anchors holding the cockpit on?
A Y-type shoulder harness made by a parachute company? Sheesh!
