Really hard to beat the old inline six . . I remember doing a comparison on
the Ford engines offered in the 1988 F150 Ford pickup I bought: The 4.9 six
had gobs more torque than the 302 V8 at ANY rpm and more torque than the
bigger V8 (360?) clear up 3800 rpm, above the normal trailer-towing rpm
range. FedEx and UPS use them, the FedEx fleet server across the street
from my shop was installing a rebuilt 4.9 one day and I was told the
replaced engine had 243 k miles on it . . 243 k miles of stop and go abuse,
wow.

trailer weight.
