Hello Vintage Racers,
This request for information is off topic but I hope someone can point
me in the right direction. A friend has died. He wasn't a racer and I
doubt any of you knew him. He was a mechanic but disabled with a very
week heart. He was on the transplant list but was unable to last long
enough to be a recipient. Medical bills had eaten away his life savings
so there is little for his 17 year old son or his 21 year old daughter
who lives on the west coast. (he was a single father)The boy has a car
to get to school in but the daughter has no car. Friends and church
members pooled frequent flier miles to fly the daughter from Tacoma, WA
to Pensacola where he lived. His car is now hers but as a 21 year old
traveling alone with her 19 day old son she has no way to get her Dad's
Honda sedan back to Washington State.
I'd like suggestions on a low cost means of shipping the car from
Pensacola Florida to Washington. The other option is for her to fly
back to Washington then return with her significant other to drive the
car back. The expense involved is probably more than the market value
of the car itself and entirely out of the girl's financial means.
Friends in the area are collecting money for some of the pressing needs
the kids have and I am not seeking donations, just helpful suggestions
on how to get a mechanically sound old beater Honda sedan out west so
the girl can have transportation. If someone has space in a trailer
headed that way or knows of a low cost car hauler or....any help or
advice would be appreciated.
