I ran small block chev race cars for many years including several 24
Hours of Daytona and Sebring, some selected Trans Am events, many SCCA
Nationals etc.

240 is your upper "live long and prosper" limit.  Over that and you are
courting lube failure. It's not a matter of if, its more a matter of
when, if you continue at 250 or 260 plus.  Synth oils stand the higher
temps better, but they will fail also.  Get a bigger cooler, relocate
into better air stream, ah heck, you know the answers but you are in
denial. It's a male thing!  HA HA.
