[Alpines] fuel sender measurement

Bill:

Before you get excited and do unnecesssary work, have you checked your 
ground? The fuel gauge, and others,  will display erratic readings if 
they have a poor ground. Also, I will check my archives to see if I have 
anything to add to Julian's info. (Of course, you need to deal with the 
leak first).
