[Roadsters] Alternator Upgrade

Why would anyone want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with an original
alternator when there's a newer system that's work great? Modify your
current system to a GM (90 amp works) and be done with it. My .00005 cents

I'm not against alternator swaps. Someday I plan on doing it myself.
To do it right requires proper fusing, resizing the feed wires, shunting
or bypassing the alternator, in addition to proper physical mounting,
etc.

So one question you need to ask: What will you gain? As far as
power needs, 55w headlights times two draw under 10 amps. 50 watt
stereo another 10 amps. Add running lights, heater, cell phone charger
and you're still doing OK (marginal, but OK).

Mind you, an extra margin would be nice - 40 or 50 amp would be
good. But necessary? Not unless you're doing more than what
I've just listed...

Just a thought... Others I'm sure will differ :-) Bring on the discussion!
