[Fot] Snakes....Help

The only poisonous snake in Norther California is rattlesnakes, and you’d know if you spooked one of those—they’d rattle. Lots of non-poisonous and therefore harmless alternatives. There are snake repellents, but they’re meant to repel snakes in a yard by broadcasting it on the grass. Not sure why anyone would want to do that, but I guess some people really don’t like snakes. 

In general they don’t like ultrasonics, so if you get one of those ultrasonic mouse chaser things it will probably chase the snake out. Or you could just assume they’ll leave when they find there’s not much to eat in your garage (unless there’s lots of mice, in which case you’d probably like them to stay and eliminate that population. Unless you’ve hermetically sealed your garage they can get out, and of course they can get in, so having seen one is functionally identical to NOT having seen one.
