Bob:
Speaking from the perspective of "Average Joe Jag enthusiast" (if there is
such a thing!! lol), I can say that I would be far more inclined to
participate in JONAT and dig into my pockets if costs were covered by
donation. A letter explaining the costs incurred would go a long way in
encouraging me to dig even deeper. The concept of charging a fee so that I
can drive my own tax paid roads does not sit well with me. And yet, I would
gladly support the cause by donation and I might even cough up more than the
amount of the fee. (provided my wife didn't find out!!)
I think the Jag-lovers donation drive is a very good example of what can be
gained by the volunteer approach.
As the saying goes, "One volunteer is worth ten pressed men."

Subject: RE: [JONAT] Questions
As a business decision it's stupid, I know, particularly as it's not
something I cannot really afford, and the very best scenario is breaking
even. (Although maybe if there are any left over I can sell them on eBay
for $500 each !) If Sectors want to forward some seed money to help out,
that would be appreciated, but certainly not expected.
No, I just have to trust you guys to go out there and get 15 paying
registrants each... if we achieve this goal we will more than break even. I
lived out Gregory's way for 3 years and can't believe there are not 15
people who would join the Tour and pay. Our local club actually has 2
members out that way (about 1200 miles from my home), and I'm sure I could
coerce them to pay the $47, even if they decided not to joint the Tour.
I'm not too worried (ignorance is bliss!). I might ask in return for
putting in the seed money that my company be listed as a Tour sponsor (I
mentioned this to Fazal yesterday and I think he fell off his chair!)

Bob,
I find it very disturbing when you talk about laying out $5,000 of your
own money when there is absolutely no way of knowing at this time how many
people will be willing to pay an entry fee. I sure hate to be a pessimist
but I'm afraid that I agree with Dr. Gregory that many may drive along but
few will be willing to pay.

Brad
"Local Jaguar Club members would be driving in the tour for free while the
SC's would have to pay even though they did all the work to get this going "
- I have a problem with this too to be honest - I would rather have an MG
type person on the tour willing to pay his meagre share of the costs of
organizing the tour, than some guy in a Jaguar who is freeloading on the
backs of all of us volunteers.
"A good portion of our membership monies will come from participants that
are in the local clubs - this may create a situation where we would not
reach the break even number due to all of the "exempt" drivers in this
scenario" - this would tick me off royally as I'm the guy who is likely
going to have to spring the $5,000 to pay for the registration packages
until the money starts rolling (well trickling really) in.
Regarding the conference call, in our effort to keep costs down, can we try
this on Windows Messenger's voice service? Has anyone done this and does it
work? ( I tried it with Fazal last week and we must have been doing
something wrong - we got Skype to work, but Fazal does not think this works
in a conference mode).

Only problem I have with this addendum is:
A. Local Jaguar Club members would be driving in the tour for free while the
SC's would have to pay even though they did all the work to get this going -
B. A good portion of our membership monies will come from participants that
are in the local clubs - this may create a situation where we would not
reach the break even number due to all of the "exempt" drivers in this
scenario.
The rest of the fee structure looks great -
Regarding the Rout Extensions in the Mid Atlantic Regions:
Bob - I think we need to talk about the extension of the mid Atlantic legs
in "real time" ASAP. Would it be possible set up a call for the NJ/Philly,
Richmond, Georgia, SC's as well as myself - we could probably resolve the
gap fairly quickly -

received.
Bob: to clarify regarding the fees and registration packages:
1) the SC receives the packages by courier: please tell me that these
will NOT come to Canada with Customs Duty owing! How many packages will be
sent?
2) the SC distributes these packages ONLY to those people who has
specifically registered in HIS sector.
3) if anyone wants to register during the sector, the SC collects the $40
CDN + $7 and forwards it to?
4) local Jaguar club members will not have to register to drive in the
sector, but by the same token will not receive any registration materials
Can you comment on the above?
Gregory

One of the group noted that he had not been receiving e-mails for a few days
so I'm just sending this out as a test.
Let me know if you don't get this e-mail (just kidding! - let me know if
this email arrives OK). The SC's and ASC's should get two copies of this
email, and the participants should get one.
