I agree with Gregory here - let's keep it a simple flat fee if at all
possible with one central place to send the money for entrance.

We can work out how these fees can be disbursed to the SC's going forward

Any monies "left over" can be issued to sectors where there are preceding
participants going into their sector from a previous leg. ( for example a
person originates in New York pays the entrance fee there but continues on
through multiple sectors to Florida - monies could be spread out to cover
any costs of this participant to the sectors in other areas).

Seeing as each participant would only get a "goodie" bag at the starting
point ( and not at each leg ) - I don' think there should be too much
overhead for someone wanting to do multiple legs, other then the cost of an
additional route map for each leg driven.

This will encourage participation in my opinion.

Brad

That sounds like a good alternative. But charging a sector fee discourages
people from doing more than one sector. I am starting to think we should
eliminate a sector fee altogether.

The idea is to keep things simple as this is an all volunteer effort.
The simplest thing if for JONAT central to collect it's fees, and the
sectors to collect theirs, so one flat fee I think would be less manageable
for us volunteers (much better, however, for the participants) if we had to
dole out money based on requests from the Sectors. My own personal opinion
is that the Sectors need to collect and manage their own finances.

I suppose if we collect $65 for the tour, rather than $45, and send the
extra $20 to the participants' home sector, this might be workable. We need
to keep it a fixed amount though to keep it simple. How does that sound as
an alternative ...

      Bob,

As I look at this some more, the question keeps popping up....What is
the rationale for doing both central and sector fees? Wouldn't it be more
manageable to have just one flat fee for participation in the tour, which
would be the same for everyone, regardless of the number of sectors
travelled? So what if people travelling multiple sectors get more bang for
their buck? This would enable all of the money to all be funneled into one
place (central committee) where it could be managed basically by one person.
If SC's need funds for approved requests, the central committee would then
simply disperse the reimbursements from this pot and always know exactly
where things stand financially.

I've put some thought into this lately, and have come up with Tour
fees collected centrally, and Sector fees collected by the Sector. The
downside to this is people will be sending their money all over the place,
the upside is it keeps it distributed, with no monies passing between
central and/or the sectors. This might not be the best way though ... any
other thoughts?

We will probably also need fairly quickly a couple of registration
people, one for the US, and one for CANADA. Jamie/Fazal comments? I have
started to put together some registration pages at
http://jonat.org/bob/RegistrationForm/RegistrationPageTest.htm if you want
to see how things are going on this ... note that when you submit your
registration by e-mail it does not work yet.
