Good move!

I think that the 3.0 motor is better, but the 3.8 will offer more learning
experience.

The bad tranny could be a real problem. Don't think that many of us on this
list have done any autotrans work.  Hope that you have the correct Helms as
that would be necessary for any rebuild.

Also hope that he or you have, or can develop the ability to rebuild one of
these complex things.

I think that a really good autotrans tech likely earns more than most
computer guys, or a tin-man like myself.  In the Chicago area a trans
specialist usually makes something like 150k at a steelership, after he pays
his "helpers" that do all of the really hard work.
