A lawyer? For "improper lane change"? Find out what the penalties are for
the offense before you make ANY decision on what to do. I know some traffic
violations don't have points attached, only a small fine. I don't know what
you can do in your state/municipality, but in this area, if you show up to
court early, you can go see the judge personally, and ask what he can do,
maybe reduce it to something else. Many of these "police judgement calls",
like "improper lane change" or "too fast for conditions", etc, are usually
thrown out if these are the ONLY citation issued. If it was issued with
other citations, fuhgeddaboutit. Also, if you have not had any other
tickets in a long time, the judge mat throw it out anyway. If you have
insurance through a company that offers a "safe driver" discount, take your
policy that shows this discount (don't use it in court, use it if you can
see the judge before court), and politely talk with him and let him know
that the safe driver discount isn't given to everyone, but one's that
haven't had any citations or accidents. It could help :-)
