I'd definitely replace the heater core. Cost of this part is miniscule compared with labor to get at it. You'd be livid if it
failed a little down the road, and you had to pull your dash a second time. Once the heater box is out of the car, replacing the
core takes only a minute.

Some on the list will recommend replace the AC evaporator. Note, there is a putz factor to doing the evaporator because it is
sealed into the heater box. To R/R it, you have to cut the box with a hacksaw blade, swap parts, then reseal the box with RTV and
two screws. Procedure is in the Helms.

Check the blower speed-control module. It may need cleaning; do so carefully. The blower motor itself does not need to be done at
this time, because it is not too hard to replace even with the heater box in the car. If you have $30 for the motor, it would be
somewhat easier to do with the box out of the car.

I urge you to get yourself some of those zip-lock sandwich bags, and use plenty of them to organize all the screws, bolts, and
push-fasteners that you will be removing. This will help a lot with preventing lost parts. Missing fasteners can cause later
squeaks.

Is there any other preventive maintenance I should do while I'm in there? I do have A/C, so I know I have to break some A/C lines
and replace the accumulator.
