[Shotimes] HID question

Most EL inverters technically run off of 5V, with a 5V regulator to convert
the 12V. I have no reason to build one to any spec but 12V, but to be
honest, more 5V regulators I've built for 12V systems operate on anything
from 5V-30V. As for producing "clean" signals, I've not heard any noise
induction in the radio, but I don't buy cheap radios, either. I'll look, but
I don't think we're talking about enough power with EL kits to get freq
kickback through the regulator, even though it has a relative lack of
shielding.

Speaking of EL inverters, I had to put a hold on the project due to a high
failure rate of the inverters. I'll return to it again once I get a good
design together that includes dimming via the oem dimmer switch. In the
meantime, feel free to do the following:

Using Goof-Off, remove the greenish/blue paint from the back of the gauge
panels. Do NOT remove the white dots underneath as they limit the amount of
light transmission to even the display. Replace the clear 194 bulbs with the
colored bulb of your choice.

Do NOT remove the green backing if you plan in using blue bulbs as the dash
will appear more whitish-blue than actual blue, unless you want a
whitish-blue appearance.

Yes, any of the above looks better than the oem puke-green.
