Yeah, that was rather upsetting. The older I get, the more I tend to
realize how mortal I am and everyone else around me is too. In one
sense, it allows me to enjoy and treat each day as a blessing but it
also makes me freak out to think of how easily I can lose someone I
love.
Two years ago my sister was nailed by a drunk driver on her way to
Chicago to fly back home for Thanksgiving. She is still suffering
neurological damage from that day and her friend who was driving was
and still is in very bad shape. At the time we had recieved a phone
call from the hospital champlain; we figured that we would not see her
alive again. Her friend Rich was a 3rd year medical student who for a
very long time could just barely remember his name. My sister is still
continuing PhD studies in IL but does suffer from occasional dizzines
and double vision...
Of course the drunk was fine....
