I've done what you're considering. My 91 had a rusted steel tube, so I
removed the CELO switch and went with rubber hose the whole way from the
engine to the heater core.
Your ETAC will work okay; it will not be confused. However, on winter
mornings, it will turn the blower on full blast right away. Normally, CELO
keeps the blower off for a couple of minutes until the engine temp comes up
a bit.
You might be able to get the steel parts from Al Fitz.

I'm just there, now. Turns out the metal tubes are rusted, as well. Out of
production; I found one at a Texas dealership. The other, with the CELO
switch is starting to leak. Is the CELO switch a necessary part of the
computer input? If I remove it, will it screw up anything? The manual is a
little hazy, it may only prevent the blower from coming on while the engine
is still cold. I'm thinking of replacing the tube with hose.
Anybody know?
