I ran into this at Mid-Ohio. Going through the keyhole would have been nice
in 2nd gear, as the exit speed is pretty low, but it upset the rhythm. Then,
on the long straight that followed that had the 90-degree right turn at the
end, I was running the car past 8K in 3rd gear rather than go to 4th, as the
heavy braking needed at the end was easier without shifting. And this was in
the '89 with stock brakes and PFCM pads, so I had to pay attention to
braking!!

Some courses though I like to stay in rythm and leave it in gear, I hate
shifting then down shifting again quickly before a corner, screws up your
rythm and gets the car out of whack if you pooch something. At summit
point I always smack the limiter going under the bridge before the
straight, I just ride the limiter for 50-75 feet or so, then off into the
corner. Now that I have the tuner I can bump up the rev limit a bit, not
making any power but still going faster than shifting to 4th and back to
3rd real fast.
