Don't know about the shift, but the sleeved throughout bearing design has a
plastic bearing the should not be greased. If it gets worse the colder it
gets maybe it got greased?

The brake piston is 2 piece that adjusts out for the parking brake
adjustment whenever the parking brake is cycled. The piston must be rotated
clockwise and bottomed out to get new pads to fit. You must apply pressure
to push in the piston while turning the piston. I haven't had luck with the
universal adjusting tool. I take the caliper off and mount it to a vice so i
can push and turn at the same time using channel lock pliers. Don't mess
with the torsion spring.

You should have the rotors turned or buy new cheap ones.

Assemble, cycle the parking brake pedal a couple dozen times to adjust them
out, and bleed.
