The A1-Cardone remanufacured pumps only include what you described. Re-use
the back half of the pump housing as there are no wear parts on it. It is
suggested that you also replace the O-rings where the pump mates with the
block and with the water crossover tube. FelPro ES70425 for about $5 from
Rockauto. You can also pick up the proper O-rings from an industrial supply
house. Many people re-use the old O-rings, but it makes sense to replace
them anyway. Depends on your level of tolerance for re-doing work.

As for the timing belt tension, you can set the pre-load on the belt by
hand. Hopefully, you didn't release the bolt that secures the
eccentic-mounted roller's position, but if you did, it's not a big deal..
Just position the belt properly, have someone hold the tensioner assembly
down (that's what the fixture prescribed in the service manual does), then
rotate the eccentric so that the pulley makes just enough contact with the
belt to take out the slack. I used two small nails inserted into the holes
in the eccentric to apply force to. The service procedure calls for a
torque value (rotating the eccentric into the belt) of 4.3 in-lbs (.5 N-m).
I figured that I pick my nose with more force than that, so it isn't a great
deal of force needed. Once the pre-load is set, release the automatic
tensioner which will then keep the proper tension on the belt for the life
of the belt (or the tensioner).

> Hello everyone again,
> Well, I just got the parts that I ordered from RockAuto. This might be a
stupid question, it seems like it to me, but I will ask it anyway. Is the
refurbished water pump just supposed to be the front of the pump with the
pulley attachment and the impeller or the whole thing?
> Second question for anyone who replaced the timing belt on the automatic.
Is there a tool to substitute for the timing belt tensioner tool that is
required for the new belt? If so, what is it? If not, where can I get one?
Thanks everyone for tolerating my seemingly never ending barrage of
questions. Short ones today at least.
> Thanks, JB
