Obviously it can be done. I've heard it weighs a lot so don't let it fall
onto your chest.
The overhaul costs are going to vary based on how much of the insides you
get replaced, but to do a pretty thorough job is going to run in the
neighborhood of $1200. This includes all the internals, TC and shift kit.
FYI, my labor was $500 to remove/replace the tranny, for a total of $1700.
One thing you might do is make sure a simple reset of the EEC doesn't solve
your problems. Even though it's a totally different code there's been quite
a few instances where a reset will cure strange tranny behavior on the
Gen3's.
