Came across this:

Interesting to see how people perceive the Taurus, and in particular, the SHO.
If that blip interests you, I'd strongly recommend reading the three books
available that focus on the Taurus. "Reinventing the Wheels", "Taurus: The
Car that Saved Ford" and "Car" are their titles. The second one named, IMO,
was the best read of the three. The last one was solely about the '96
redesign... interesting notes in that book too though, like the designers
knew you couldn't use the cupholders and the ashtray in the '96 6-passenger
model at the same time, but built it that way anyway.
On another note, looking at the four generation of Taurii, which do you
think had the best build-quality? I've owned four Taurii now and my '97 has
the best fit & finish of all the years out there (barring the SHO cam
failures). I even think the 1997 model year was marginally better than '98
and '99. There was significant de-contenting in '99, and little stuff like
the turn signals sounding better in the '97's. The aesthetics are best
saved for another discussion.
