[Shotimes] plugging valve cover vent?

Well those are my post. I was going to wait until I have more miles on the
mod but here it goes.
About a 6 weeks ago I did this to my '93. I have been running like this on
my '97 since September (though the car has moved since late November). What
you are doing is plugging the intake side of the crankcase ventilation
system. Not the large line coming from the oil separator and going to the
TB base. What this does, on the V6, is induce a slight vacuum on the
crankcase, around 2" Hg under anything but WOT. This will help keep the oil
from leaking out the seals. I believe that the reason the plug well seals
leak on the V6 is because the PCV system, being based on the venturi effect
from the small port in front of the throttle plate, does not provide good
enough ventilation and the oil will leak out of the seals. The V8 uses the
exact same seal design and with the use of an intake manifold mounted PCV
valve does not suffer from this problem. The PCV line going from the TB to
the valve cover is only under pressure when the engine is at WOT otherwise
the flow is from the TB to the valve cover.
I originally was going to swap out the 3.0L in my '93 due to oil
burning/leaking to the tune of a quart every 500-600 miles. Getting a new
job and wanting to use the car for commuting I decided to put new bearings
in it for the interim. After seeing how carboned up the block was on the
backside of the pistons I decided to try the AUTO-RX oil treatments.
Between the AUTO-RX and the plugged PCV intake my oil consumption is now at
1200 miles per quart. I will be doing another treatment in a week or so. I
am quite pleased with this product and it does all it claims to do.
