Carl,
In your case that could indicate a misadjusted low pressure switch. It
could also indicate a low refigerant charge or air in the system causing the
freezeup.
First thing for anyone to do is to open the hood and look for two things:
1) Observe the AC line at the firewall - does it look like a FreezePop that
got left in the freezer too long? If so, you have a freeze up condition.
2) Look down past the battery and observe the AC clutch to see if it is
engaged or not. If it ism the outer disk will be spinning with the pulley.
