[Shotimes] Removing ext. door handles - Easiest method? ('89 SHO)

I don't know about physically removing/replacing them, but if you want to
paint them, I would suggest getting '94-'95 handles that have a better
finish and are already smooth enough to be painted.

When I had my '89 repainted, the body shop tried their best to sand & smooth
the door handles, but Ford did not do much QC on them, since they were going
to be painted with the flat finish. The '94-'95 handles have a much smoother
finish that works better with paint. My repainted '89 handles never really
looked right, as they were still wavy and not smooth.

Subject: [Shotimes] Removing ext. door handles - Easiest method? ('89 SHO)

Hi all,

I am in the process of repainting my Project '89 completely including all
the
jambs, and the engine bay.

I am going to remove as much trim parts as I can to paint the car
thoroughly.
I was thinking to remove the door handles to paint them individually, as
well
as to get better paint coverage on the doors.

What would be the best/easiest method on removing the factory rivets that
hold the exterior door handles on? And to reinstall the handles without the
rivets somehow?

Please help, and thank you.

Thanks, Norm
