[Shotimes] Gen 3 SHO's, I have to admit this...

Personally, I agree. '99s don't have the SARC crap, which I find to be lame.
And cutting off the SARC gives you a suspension that is stiffer than the
'99, which is not necessarily a good thing. '99s also have a fixed-mast
antenna, which I personally prefer over a power unit. Also have the (IMHO)
nicest Gen 3 wheels.

'98 & '99 has the black plastic MAF, which I still believe stays cooler &
performs better. Also the all-red taillights, which are a "personal taste"
issue, but I think they look better.

The '98 & '99 came fully loaded from the factory. "96 & '97 came with
separate options, so you have to look more carefully to see that a '96 or
'97 has the options you want.

You may also be able to find a '99, or maybe a '98, with some ESP warranty
left, which would be a GREAT idea.

Some may argure that the 99 susp. is better, some say worse. The 99 susp.
system is not SARC equipped, the shocks are valved differently that the
SLO's though. I say that the 99 will be the easiest to modufy susp. wise
and not have to play with wires and sensors.

If you get the tranny rebuilt be sure to get the torque converter done too.
'96-97s are the best IMHO. '98s have speedo problems and the '99 is a
stripped version. Though it nay be the lightest, even though it is lacking
in the suspension department.
